Museum Specimen Data of NamibiaMany museums around the world hold ornithological specimens that were originally collected in Namibia, some dating back to expeditions made in the early 1800s and before. The database contains information on over 24,00 specimens. For many species, particularly larks, weavers and finches, there are several hundred specimens, with Sabota lark topping the list with almost 500 specimens. Most specimens have associated information on the collection date and locality, although for some this is simply 'Damaraland' or 'Kaokoveld'. It is important to note that information provided by museums has often not been verified. Species identifications may not be accurate, and associated information, such as collection location, may be very vague.
